Archie or Archy is a given name, almost exclusively masculine, and a diminutive of Archibald, which is derived from the German language ercan, meaning “genuine”, and bald, meaning “Courage.” It has been in use as an independent given name in the Anglosphere since the 19th century. It has increased in use in English-speaking countries in the 21st century.
