Tarbiẕ () is a quarterly of contemporary , and (including , Biblical criticism, , , , and ). It is published in Hebrew by the Institute of Jewish Studies (now "Mandel Institute for Jewish Studies", Hebrew University of Jerusalem). The journal was established in 1930. Etymologically, the word "Tarbiz" means "place of dissemination of learning," particularly that related to an "academy," or "seat of learning."Cf. Babylonian Talmud ( 82b, where the Aramaic word has been explained by and the as a Beit midrash (House of study) where the Torah is disseminated. In the English edition of the Babylonian Talmud (s.v. Menachot 82b, note 9) the same word is translated as "the garden where scholars of the academy used to congregate for general discussions." The are Roni Goldstein, Moshe Halbertal, Shlomo Neah, and Sarit Shalu-Aini.


History
The first editor of the journal was who served until 1952, after whom took-over until 1969. He was followed by (1970–1981), while assisted by E.J. Goleh. Encyclopaedia Judaica (1971), Keter Publishing House, Jerusalem, s.v. Tarbiz The following years saw a range of other chief editors.

The current publisher is the Magnes Publishing House at the Hebrew University.
