Mastigoteuthis is a genus of whip-lash squid containing at least seven valid species. Some consider Idioteuthis synonymous with this taxon.
The genus contains bioluminescent species.

Magnapinna talismani was previously placed in this genus, but is now considered a species of bigfin squid.
