Jasus is a genus of which live in the of the Southern Hemisphere. They have two distinct "horns" projecting from the front of the carapace, but lack the Stridulation present in almost all other genera of spiny lobsters. Like all spiny lobsters, they lack , and have long stout antennae which are quite flexible.
The generic name Jasus is derived from the Ancient Greek town of Iasos (on the Mediterranean Sea, located in modern Turkey), which was famous for its and stamped them on some of its coins.
