Jais, also spelled Jayas, is a city with a municipal board in Amethi district (formerly in Raebareli district) in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Institute of National Importance
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas set up the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology at Jais. It has been accorded "Institute of National Importance" status and a governance structure similar to that available to
IITs. It admits undergraduate students from the rank list of students who have qualified JEE (Advanced) Examination.
