Halar (Haalaar) is a historical region of western , located by the Gulf of Kutch coast on the northwestern area of , now Jamnagar, in State, on Saurashtra peninsula, roughly corresponding to the present Jamnagar District, Devbhumi Dwarka district, and .

In 1901 it had an area of 19,365 km2 and a population of 764,992 inhabitants.


History
The name is derived from Jam Sri Halaji Jadeja who is supposed to be the 9th-generation grandfather of Jam Sri Jadeja (who is the founder of the region and the first king to reign in the region); Halar was first established with this name by Jam Shri , a , in 1540.

During the Halar region was the western of the four or historical districts of , belonging to the Bombay Presidency, the others being (southeast), (north) and Sorath (southwest).
