The Briniates were an ancient Ligures tribe mentioned by Livy as being subjugated by ancient Rome under consuls Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and Quintus Mucius Scaevola in 175 BCE.Smith, Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography (1857), s.v.
