Mr Heath describes the savoury as "the passion of the average Englishman", and he is right
Dinner can scarce be considered replete but that, before the frivolities of dessert, we have enjoyed a small slice of toast topped with offal, or similar. All of the obvious savouries are described - Devils on Horseback, Scotch Woodcock, Croque-Monsieur - but so are some rare delights too.
