The United States Attorneys represent the U.S
Federal government in the U.S. District court and appeals court. Currently there are 93 U.S. Attorneys; one represents each judicial district with the exception of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands where a single Attorney works with both district. These attorneys are responsible for the investigation and prosecution of those who violate our Nation''s laws and for defending the interest of the United States. The U.S. Attorneys'' offices conduct about 95% of the criminal prosecutions and 75% of the civil litigation handled by the department of Justice.
