Ashley is a brave butterfly, braver than her friends
Her friends are content to play in the small parts of the meadow they are familiar with, but Ashley wants to explore. She travels around the meadow until she discovers a strange glowing bird: a phoenix.Unafraid, Ashley lands on the phoenix’s glowing wing. It’s almost like the bird is on fire, but the flames do no hurt her. Instead the heat from the phoenix’s burning feathers makes Ashley feel safe and warm, and more amazingly, she could hear the phoenix’s thoughts!Ashley rides the phoenix’s wing all the way to the edge of space, a much farther adventure than she could have dreamed of herself. The warmth of the phoenix protects her from the cold and the thin air, and soon they return to the meadow together.Beautifully illustrated by Bob Hobbs, The Phoenix and the Butterfly is appropriate for readers ages 4 to 12.
