The erhu is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument, sometimes known in the Western world as the "Chinese violin". It is used as a solo instrument as well as in small ensembles and large orchestras. It is the most popular of the Huqin family of traditional bowed string instruments used in China. In addition to performing the traditional music here, Guo Gan has worked hard to popularize his instrument outside of China. He has reached international recognition playing with artists such as Didier Lockwood, Gabriel Yared, Lang Lang, Yvan Cassar, Jean François Zygel and others. Scented Maiden comes packaged in digipack format with a 16-page booklet that has biographical information about the artist and the musical program.
