The second gen protects have thus far fixed all the issues with the first gen. I have 2 first gen protects and experienced a few minor issues, but nothing to prevent me from ordering an additional second gen protect.The size of the 2nd gen is a little smaller and more svelte than the 1st gen, overall footprint is about the same though, so don't expect to save a lot of wall space.
