As the previous reviewer stated the battery is advertised as a 12v 4Ah battery and what I received was a 12v 5Ah battery; However, after reading his review I checked around on the internet and found that the 12v 5Ah is a common replacement battery for most alarm systems. Amp-Hours refers to the battery capacity. All things being equal (i.e. price), it's better to have more battery capacity than less. It certainly doesn't hurt.
