My kids got this for their dad as a gift, and it works great. He has to remove his phone from its protective case to attach the lens; though cumbersome, that's understandable and the results have been quite fun. It gives him options previously unattainable, and he relies exclusively on his iPhone for photographs, so that gives him some creative freedom. We're impressed and would suggest it--as long as the purchaser understands that it has to attach without the case..
This is a great solution for jewelry photos. Although, you still have to be quite close which can create shadow issues. I have to remove my iphone's case. The shatter guard on my screen was actually destroyed by the lens so I am going without that for awhile. This is a pretty amazing little lens. Would definitely recommend.
