These two things combined fosters bacteria growth in a wam plastic, air-less environment. I really like this GEO Sprouter because the stackable trays have room in between for great air circulation. I suggest rinsing each tray separately, draining well, then restacking. The grooves inside the bottom of each tray seems to keep the seeds moist while germinating without drying out. I was very surprised when I tried this sprouter and found myself enjoying it so much. Each tray measures 8" around for 50 square inches of sprouting space.
