This SPL is much bigger than I expected. Hard to describe the size - maybe about the size of a really big Taco Bell burrito (not counting the windscreen which could double as a clown nose).On the positive side - it has both dBA and dBC with four ranges, 40dB-60dB, 60dB-90dB, 80dB-110dB and 100dB-130dB. It displays "Lo" if the SP is below the range. Haven't tried to see what it does above any of the ranges.One thing I don't like is the way the numbers rapidly change. Even on "slow" mode, it changes multiple ..
Seems to work fine, and the audio output should allow it to interface to soundcards and audio analysis apps. One problem: the auto-off default time is very short. It stays on for about sixty seconds by default, and about five minutes if you press and hold "MAX" when you power up. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DEFEAT THE POWER_DOWN FEATURE ??
.i bougth several different spl meters to tryas my old radio shack is getting intermittent after 40 yearsthis hde appears to be identical to the neewer spl that i also boughtthinking it was different.prosthe price is cheapeasy to useworks - basicallyvery easy to turn on and select settingsgoes down to 40dB which is better than my current spl meterhas a box with padding for storage.cons etc.max hold only holds for a couple of minutesTHEN TEH WHOLE THING TURNS OFF !!!WTF!!!i need max hold for a couple of hour..
