I have Trainz version 2004, 2006, 2009 and now 2010. There have been improvements with each version, as you would expect.Trainz 2010 seems to run more smoothly and the code has apparently been reworked for faster operation. The new trees for scenery add more realistic operation. I have used Trainz since the 2006 incarnation and while it has some rough edges and somewhat arcane maintenance and updating issues, the behavior of the basic simulator and the richness of detail in the included railroad layouts is superb. This is easily the most accurately detailed Railroad simulator out there today. Overall, I'm very pleased with Trainz Simulator. Yes, it has a few issues, but what software doesn't? The minor issues certainly haven't taken away from my enjoyment. I have gone through many of the built-in scenarios, and haven't run into any show-stoppers. Every red signal I have encountered was red for a reason.
