I use this working as a flagger and the battery begins to die after 5 hrs. If you use a external microphone with this model the battery wiill die in 3 hrs. I was forced to purchase a 2nd battery that is also expensive. The range is very limited. Up to 2/10s of a mile and it loses reception.
We purchased these radios to work in farm machinery along with the Two-Wire Surveillance Mic for Motorola CP200 Empire. The radios have worked well and we've had no difficulty transmitting from inside the cab of one tractor over rough terrain to another operator inside the cab of another tractor 1/2 a mile a way.
