One of the exciting musical trends of the 1990s is experimentation with sampling, particularly when it involves old, almost lost material
Wally Brill is a producer, arranger and keyboardist who captures 78 rpm recordings of Cantors or Jewish liturgical singers from the 1920s, '30s and '40s and mixes them with modern electronic sounds. The variations on The Covenant range from world to ambient to dub. Brill gets some help from the ambient guitar master David Torn to create this memorable album.
