This is the real deal. A TRUE shaving soap that delivers a close, smooth and moisturizing shave. The scent is pretty dry / smokey, so be sure that is your leaning. I understand the Arlington fragrance is a bit friendlier.
Edit: Yes, I have now tried Arlington and prefer the citrus-woods fragrance (which gets better with time).
I gave this a 5 star rating because of the lather and quality of the scent. I opened the package and was very pleased with the mild and aromatic scent. Not too strong but very relaxing. Since this was a refill I placed in a concave mahogany bowl I got from Jamaica just recent and it was a great fit. I like the quality and value that D.R. Harris shaving products are noted for. This shaving soap is solid cake, nice lavender scent, and lathers nicely with a quality brush. I have also used a variety of other brand shave soaps, and I find the D.R. Harris refills are slightly better for my uses.
