Covering a routine assignment on a barnstorming air circus in New Orleans reporter Burke Devlin falls in love with a key character in his story trick parachutist LaVerne Shumann. LaVerne's husband Roger daredevil racing pilot is more in love with himself and his planes than with his wife or their ten-year-old Jack. Roger's hero-worshipping mechanic Jiggs resents Shumann's treatment of LaVerne.
