Jean Paget (Virginia McKenna - Born Free Marple) is a prisoner in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp forced to trek through Malaya at bayonet point during the occupation. She meets captive Australian Joe Harman (Peter Finch - Network The Trials of Oscar Wilde) and there is an instant magnetism between them.
