Annette K Olesen's entertaining comedy drama combines filmmaking elements from the Dogme manifesto with Mike Leigh's improvisational method. Following the unexpected death of matriarch Ulla a dysfunctional family is reunited for her funeral. Assembling at the family's Copenhagen home are widower John who refuses to take life seriously his brother Soren and John's three grown up children workaholic Tom kooky would-be-artist Eva and the shy introverted Marianne. As their various eccentricities hopes frustrations and misunderstandings come to the surface each find their lives taking an unexpected turn. Diffused with gentle wry humour and quirky characterisation 'Minor Mishaps' is a marvellously acted warm and engaging ensemble piece.
