This best of gives you everything you're looking for from the Meteors, who, like The Cramps, put swamp rock psychobilly heaven on the map. This overview includes some of their best singles, including the crowd pleasing, foot stomping punky tinged "Mutant Rock." Although they are not nearly as adept at providing the familiar blues infused romp like their American counterparts, this IS the best from over the pond, and their b-movie horror flick tinged lyrics confirm it. A must for any serious collection.

These guys aren't bad, but they lack the sublime, seething energy of the true rock n' rollers (Buddy Holly, Hasil Adkins, Johnny Burnette, etc) which the Cramps seem to have captured. Like most of the Britpunk of their era, the Meteors tactlessly yell out all their lyrics, in effect ignoring the American folk/blues tradition of vocal experimentation, and translating all the effort they put into their music into a constant boring drone.
