Recently our local cable company encrypted all of our basic channels. Which means now you have to rent a box from them for each TV. - I didn't spend a bunch of money on HD TV's with expensive tuners in them only to have to bypass all that functionality by renting a cable box. We finally got an HDTV set this winter so I figured it's time to test out some of these indoor antennas and eventually cancel my basic cable which was $20 a month .
