I use these due to the convenient 17mm nut on the end for installation and removal, although the filtering specs aren't nearly as good as the OEM filter. A word of caution -- this filter is easy to overtighten -- just today I tried to remove it from from my 2010 Road King and it wouldn't budge. The nut on the end is low quality and quickly rounded the corners off, so then I used a strap wrench to remove it -- the filter was on so tight that it actually crushed th..
I generally have never had issues with K&N quality. The last time I purchased one, the nut on the end was not of any particular size. I tried every American and metric size on either side of the as advertised 17mm as well and none would get a hold of it well enough to loosen the previously installed hand seated plus 1/4 turn K&N filter. I also tried numerous types of sockets (6pt, 12pt),wrenches and anything I could get in the space allowed. All would s..
