Two years after the acclaimed 'Tiurida', Heathen Metal forerunners Falkenbach return with their sixth album 'Asa', which marks their debut for Prophecy Productions. In his new compositions Vratyas Vakyas further hones Falkenbach's unique style - a combination of Northern European folklore and Bathory's epic blackness. 'Asa' is characterised by a steady flow of both calm and aggressive passages, joins harsh screaming with clear singing in an almost extinct West Germanic tongue and is once again inspired by northern lore.
This album far surpassed my expectations. If you enjoy the beautiful melodic vocals and instrumentation typical of earlier works, then you will enjoy this album. If you prefer the harsher vocals and slightly heavier portions of earlier works, then you will also enjoy this album. The mix of melodic and heavy is perfectly done and any fan of Falkenbach's will love this newest work.
