In honor of Kirk s incredible career, Gibson Custom is proud to introduce the Kirk Hammett Flying V, an immaculate replication of Hammett s own 1979 Gibson Flying V. In order to faithfully reproduce the tone, feel, and mojo of this iconic guitar, the luthiers at Gibson Custom took a digital scanning of the original and measured each an every significant aspect and specification of Kirk s original 79 Flying V with unparalleled precision.The body of the Kirk Hammett Flying V is crafted from resonant mahogany to deliver a full-bodied tone in every frequency with an especially nice low end. The three-piece, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is carved into a fast, comfortable neck profile, then is topped off with a rosewood fingerboard that houses 22 jumbo Jescar frets (used to Kirk s own guitar) to facilitate incredible playability up and down the entire neck, ideal for those high velocity shredders.
