This 1974 live album leaves all the audience applause and between-song-banter off the final recording so that the record sounds like a command performance just for you by Joni Mitchell and the LA Express
Mitchell assembles a crack team of jazz-minded rock players to reinterpret songs from her pre-Court and Spark album from 1974. That still leaves a lot of excellent material on Miles of Aisles, including a slick version of Big Yellow Taxi from Ladies of the Canyon and a funky little reading of Woodstock with sweet electric piano chords from Larry Nash. This album stands as just one example of Joni Mitchell's originality and innovation.
I usually do not like live albums, however, this one is outstanding in a field of it's own! Originally released as a 2 record set on vinyl, my only complaint with the CD version, (that I bought to save my vinyl) is that the songs, the crowd patter and the flow of the original is somewhat lost as things were segued, cut or minimally edited to get the entire work on one CD. All but 3 songs were recorded during a 3 day engagement at the Universal Ampitheater in Los Angeles. Anoth..
