I've been frustrated with the limited upgrade options for the Alienware X51. This is the best card that is readily available and doesn't require case modding. Compared to the terrible GTX 760 OEM that came stock, it runs about 5C cooler, adds atleast 10 FPS and eliminates all VRAM issues. The only issue with this card is it's a bit louder, the coil whine is definitely there and that's all that keeps this from 5 Stars. The sound isn't driving me too crazy though, and..
I bought this as an upgrade for my Alienware X51 R2. It fit perfectly, I didn't need to remove any components or anything like that. I've never had a power issue even with the most tasking games. Also, I've never had an issue with a coil whine that some people seem to have a complaint about. Just make sure you're using the 330w PSU and have at least the R2 version of the alienware x51.
