When I bought this I recognized the name, and definitely the record label. (Knowing this was the alliance that brought Raven, Testament, and later on King's X to public attention.) So I picked it up hoping for another great album.
Originally released in 1988, Cycle of the Moon was the second album by New Jersey-based melodic rock band Prophet. It was also the first Prophet album to feature former Surgin' frontman Russell Arcara on vocals.Prophet stands in that thin line between AOR and hair metal with similar bands like Giant, Bad English, and Damn Yankees. They have some of the same bombastic energy and hook-heavy sound as the hair metal bands, but also take a polished, melodic, keyboard-laden approach that's fairly radio-friendly. ..
The level of musicianship in Prophet was very high... This CD has combinations of both melodic AOR style and progressive rock. The songs are very catchy, I love the 80's vibe of this disc. The singer suits this music very well.If you like 80's style melodic rock, check this out.
