I purchased the StarTech auto switch because I have a television with only two HDMI ports. I needed to hook up my Dish receiver, Apple TV and Mac mini. I could not hook the Apple TV and Dish receiver up to the switch at the same time because they both pass signal even when they are off so the switch wouldn't auto switch. For my needs it works fine I just hooked the Mac Mini and Apple TV to the switch. over all it is a nice switch very small.
