Ok, about a year ago I purchased the current model of this of the time, the Powerslide 3650. That scanner has been trucking along fine ever since I bought it and put it to use in my scanning business. Over 10,000 scans later and it hasn't skipped a beat. It's time now to expand to allow increased volume, so I went looking for another. To my surprise, the 3650 was no longer available and in it's place I found the PS5000. I bought this Pacific Images scanner several months ago and used it to scan my entire collection of 35,000 slides. I ran this scanner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for many months and didn't have any problems and am very satisfied with it. This scanner is a real workhorse and performs like a trooper, and I heartily recommend it. In fact, I can't recommend it highly enough and I'm a pretty discerning photographer.This is the fourth slide scanner I've owned, including two Minolta Dimages..
UPDATE Oct. 2012 - It's the good and the great!OK - this unit does an outstanding job of scanning 35mm slides after all. I have now scanned about 1,000 slides, and the results are stunning. My wife and I are now enjoying these old memories on a high definition TV screen.I've experienced slide feed errors of only about 1 in 1,000. Much different that my original experience.
