First-ever full length retrospective from the most influential Hip-hop/rap group of all time! Featuring Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Terminator X, Professor Griff. 18 digitally remastered classics Including 'Fight The Power', 'Bring The Noise', 'Rebel Without A Pause', 'Don't Believe The Hype', '911 Is A Joke', 'Can't Truss It' And 'He Got Game'. This deluxe packaging comes with rare photos, detailed credits and insightful essays from Harry Allen and the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch. Def Jam. 2005. Public Enemy is not the kind of group that does compromise--either you own It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back and its explosive follow-up Fear of a Black Planet in their entirety or you simply hate music. So use this all-too-brief primer merely as a map to find your way to the albums that actually shook the world, mixing blunt politics with hard-hitting beats and Chuck D's prophet-like zeal for affecting change. If nothing else, tracks like "Bring The Noise" and "Fight The Power" serve as timely reminders of how much power hip-hop can wield when not tripped up in name-calling and bitch-slapping (D famously dubbed the genre "CNN for black people"), while on "911 is a Joke" Flava Flav proves there's a fine-line between laughter and tears. --Aidin Vaziri

I can't believe this compilation. I have most all these tracks from their albums or singles on various forms of media (tape, vinyl, CD) and I can't believe some the songs have "beeps" in them. It's selective censoring, because you'll have songs like, "Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos" and "Fight the Power", but then you'll have a less popular track like, "He Got Game" uncensored (in fact Chuck and co. use the F word more in that song, than probably any other song they've eve..
