The clippers are not bad in terms of sharpness, but something about its construction makes it difficult to get at the baby's nail very easily. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the clippers don't open very wide, but it took a while to get them in exactly the right position to clip my baby's nails. The handle is a little tough to hold after a while. I didn't think I'd care about that aspect of it, but given how long it took to try to cut baby's nails, it did start to feel pretty uncomfortabl..
After reading the other glowing reviews, I decided to buy these clippers for my ten month old son. I liked how small the clippers were and that they were easy to position his nail in the opening, but they do not trim well because these are not sharp enough! I had to practically bend his nail in order to cut it. Very disappointing. And my son grew very impatient with me trying to trim his nails because it took SO LONG. It's back to the drawing board in search for the perfect pair of baby nail clippers.
I am a baby nurse and deal with about 60 infants in a year. Inevitably parents get the "safety kit" which has bulky nail clippers in them. I don't recommend that parents clip their babies nails for the first couple months (use your mouth to bite nails, peel them or if you have to, use a nail file).
