Prism Break is unique among other earth-type Skylanders in that he has long-range attacks (energy beams, further lengthened in range by usage of summoning crystal shards) and close-up crystal attacks. He's also kinda fast for an earth-type too (then again, most Skylanders, surprisingly, are fast).
