The housing, yoke, and shaft are constructed from a heavy-duty plastic that is light-weight but strong. I bought this to help out learning how to fly. The yoke as a whole feels very solid and well made. The tension is pretty close to the real thing and it centers pretty good too. I plugged it into a USB port of my Win 7 64 bit machine and it installed instantly. After many years of flying with a joystick I decided to take the plunge and buy a yoke for fsx. I had a hard time choosing between this model and the saitek, I spent many hours reading opinions on both and when it came down to the wire I chose CH.
