Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is heading to the U.S. to work her charm and her second album is coming right along with her, a high energy account of Vivaldi's FOUR SEASONS.
The Four Seasons is the first classical piece I could name by my self any time I heard it. I love Vivaldi and this recording is wonderful, Janine Jansen plays the parts a bit faster than I am used to but in the classic key.
My absolute favourite recording of The Four Seasons. Brilliant, passionate, vibrant. Is it a "perfect" performance? Maybe not, but who cares? It's clear to me that the performers love the music. Give me passion and fire over technically correct but dull and leaden readings any day of the week. Bonus: since it's performed using period instruments, I imagine this is similar to how it must have sounded when it was performed when it was new.
