In benign conditions with 7 or 8x binoculars, it is relatively easy to get a large, steady image up close and personal. But as magnification increases, this becomes a more difficult task. Eventually the smaller field of view and more pronounced shake of a large optic can render big binoculars a very frustrating affair. The 12x32 StabilEyes provides 3 degree of stabilization in every direction, making them actually useful in such situations as tracking a moving subject while on a moving platform yourself. Basic use fault. Three buttons to control the stabilizer( which is bad in the field if you are a bird watcher. The bird will be gone by the time the VR is on sometimes). Versus 1 button for Canon.Stabilizer displacement fault. If you focus on a subject(say a duck for example)and then turn the stabilizer on, the binocular view will move to the right, therefore you lose sight of the subject. Then when you move back to the bird, the VR thinks it is shake and moves the view back away from the bird.Worst fault. ..
I was looking for Canon IS binoculars, I ended up with the Nikon instead. The Nikon is FAR superior to the Canon in anything even close to the same price range. I admit, I got extremely lucky, the shop I went to looking for image stabilization binoculars was closing out their Nikons and I got a fantastic deal on the RealTree (camoflauge) version of the 12x32 StabilEyes.
