This is a decent lens if it's on sale. The only reason it's getting a mediocre rating is because at full price, I simply can't see it being that much better than the excellent Nikon 50mm f/1.8G. The 1.8G is a flat out bargain, and is the main reason many people might choose not to purchase the 1.4G.I own both, and spent some time testing both lenses, and in most instances the 1.8G is as good or better.
