So i got this over getting just the amazon lighting cable. This cable work's with most cases, the connector part is a bit larger then the standard apple one, but still fits fine in the otterbox defender series case. Charges my Ipad (4th gen) and iphone 5. Works well, Pretty Slim. The lightning cable tip seems to be the original iphone one. I have a Ballistic case for the iPhone, and the plug has no issue connecting though the opening of that case (the opening at the bottom of the case is about 1/4 inch wide, or about 6 mm).The green light is quite green and bright at night.
