I bought a stitcher like this one decades ago and have missed having it ever since I lost it. The Deluxe Stitcher Kit appears to be identical to the one I used to have. It is cheap, simple, and was able to repair my thick leather gloves. I also used it to re-stitch the cuff on my leather (welding) jacket. This device is very usefull and easy to use but $18 is a bit expensive for a simple awl stitcher. Have since found identical item by itself-not in kit- for $3 at Harbor Freight Store.
I ordered this item for my son because he wants to get into leather working. The image shows two different awls. I have the speedy stitcher awl myself and thought he would like having both. I could get one of these for about half of the price listed for this item but as it showed both I went ahead and ordered it. Only the stitcher with the internal bobbin arrived.
