The spoon holds enough to eat soup easily and the handle is contoured for spreading butter, cream cheese, etc. The fork tines are long enough to twirl noodles with ease and the outer inch splitter tines inch of the fork are tapered for quick and convenient soft-food splitting. GoBites took over two years to develop, but we think they were worth the wait. We wanted to create eating tools that many different types of people can use in many different situations, and we wanted to make them simple, extremely durable, and a joy to use. We're confident that we've achieved all of that and more with GoBites. Duo is a decidedly clever two-piece fork and spoon set. A unique interlock mechanism allows the tools to nest in an extremely compact form for transport and storage. Each tool has been carefully sized to be comfortable when used separately and to fit together end-to-end making a single tool (for rehydrated meal bags, deep containers, etc.). As a single tool, Duo is longer than any comparable "long reach" utensil. The Duo is made from a special BPA-free nylon material that is amazingly strong - so strong we back it with a lifetime warranty. Nests for compact storage In storage mode, the Duo's fork and spoon snap together for an ultra-portable utensil set. Connects end-to-end for extra length Deep containers and dehydrated meal bags can lead to a nasty case of "sauce hand." Duo to the rescue - the fork and spoon snap end-to-end to form a single utensil that's longer than most "extra-long" utensils. Backpacker's best friend Use the extra-long Duo to reach the bottom of dehydrated meal bags and other camping food containers. Don't forget the pasta The Duo fork's tines twirl pasta like a champ while still being compact enough for easy portability. Cook up a storm The Duo's material is heat-resistant and won't scratch your cookware. And thanks to the added length, you can use just about any pot. A real fork. A real spoon. Why sacrifice function for portability when you can have both? We improved both the fork and spoon on the Duo, so you can eat soup, twirl noodles, cut up softer food with the fork's "splitter tines," and scrape the sides of containers with the spoon's specially designed edges. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. Clever. Compact. Civilized. How did you come up with the idea for this product? GoBites took over two years to develop, but we think they were worth the wait. We wanted to create eating tools that many different types of people can use in many different situations, and we wanted to make them simple, extremely durable, and a joy to use. We're confident that we've achieved all of that and more with GoBites. What makes your product special? So far all three GoBites have won the prestigious Red Dot, IDEA, and Spark awards for excellence in design. Most people aren't familiar with these awards, but they're the kind of thing that designers that wear all black and have fancy glasses get in a tizzy over. It was no small feat to try to reinvent something as ubiquitous and fundamental as a spoon and fork, and we're stoked that others have recognized our efforts. What has been the best part of your startup experience? Seeing the excitement around these very simple tools - from users, from the press, and from design award committees - has validated our conviction that design and innovation can be brought to small, everyday items. Our goal at humangear is to design products that make life on the go easier, more organized, and more fun - and it's awesome to see the GoBites fulfilling that mission!
used to use the Spork by Light My Fire on backpacking trips, but I got so sick of them breaking all the time. I mean, they’re only three bucks, but c’mon – they should last longer than a trip or two! I recently got a humangear Duo and so far it’s fantastic. I’ve taken it on a few trips in the Trinity Alps and it’s so much better than the Spork. First, it feels way stronger – I can easily bend the Spork but the Duo tools ar..
The handles fit and click securely together like a puzzle piece and then when you take them apart you can turn them around and slide and click the handles very securely together end to end, so you have a longer fork and spoon to be able to reach down to get the food out of the bottom of the container that you're eating out of and easily reach the bottom of the peanut butter container. Both the fork and the spoon are 5-3/4ths of an inch long by 3/4ths of an inch wide..
