They are ok but the only reason they float is because the battery makes the rear or back end of the light bottom heavy and this in turn keeps the the plastic one piece body up right. If there are waves or any splashing the front black screw on portion of the light has no o ring either at the screw on end or around the lens. It would leak and flood very rapidly.
