This primer is great for bare aluminum. It must etch itself into the aluminum. I've sprayed it on bare aluminum that was left outside for years (no cover coat, just etching primer) and it is still intact. Hasn't peeled. Without the etching primer I have had trouble getting paint to hold on aluminum. It's worth the price!If it works like this on steel it will be outstanding.But make sure you apply to bare metal.
