Cheiragonidae is a small family of , sometimes called , placed in its own Taxonomic rank, Cheriagonoidea. It comprises three extant species, Horsehair crab, Telmessus acutidens and Telmessus cheiragonus; there are no yet evidences of Cheiragonidae in the fossil record. http://boletinsgm.igeolcu.unam.mx/bsgm/vols/epoca04/6502/%2810%29Osso.pdf Many of these crabs were formerly treated as members of the Atelecyclidae.
