The mechanical construction is so poor that it broke in just one week of normal use. I used this as external cdrom drive to my samsung netbook and within a week it stopped working. On examination, I found that the spring mechanism of the lid was the one that broke. Now the lid is not fully and correctly closing and so, the power circuit for the DVD is not closed.
