Protoshield KIT for Arduino UNO R3 * Includes PCB and components * Backward compatible with Arduino UNO R2 and older boards * Assembly and soldering required The Protoshield for Arduino is a shield that sits on top of the Arduino board and allows you to create your own shield. Is like using the breadboard for prototyping, but making the project more permanent. It is very useful when you create a prototype and then you want to make it pseudo permanent and sit reliably on top of the Arduino board. KIT requires assembly and soldering Includes: PCB, 1 10-pin female header, 2 8-pin female header, 2 6-pin female header, 1 2x3 female header2 tactile switches, 1 3-pin male header, 1 jumper, 1 4-position terminal block for attaching wires. To assemble the Protoshield for an Arduino R3 board, use 1 10-pin female header, 2 8-pin female header, 1 6-pin female header, 1 2x3 female header, 2 switches, 1 3-pin male header, 1 jumper and the 4 position terminal block. After assembling the board, 1 6-pin female header will be left unused. To assemble the Protoshield for Arduino UNO R2 or older boards (Arduino UNO R2, Arduino UNO R1, Arduino Duemilanove, Freeduino, Seeeduino), use 2 8-pin female headers, 2 6-pin female headers, 1 2x3 female header, 1 3-pin male header, 1 jumper, 2 tactile switches, 1 4 position terminal block. After assembling the board, 1 10-pin female header will be left unused.
This shield is very nice. It is very well labeled and the craftsmanship is excellent. It only took me about 10 minutes to put it together. I paid $11 for it, and am very glad I did so instead of paying $3 for simple blanks from Radio Shack.Word to the wise: buy this as a separate purchase if you are also buying anything large or heavy. Mine came thrown into a box together with a soldering iron. Fortunately all that was bent were a couple of the pins on the switches and they were easy to fix. I can't be..
