I'm using the adapter in JBOD mode to connect four SAS drives in an Asus P8-B WS based workstation running Fedora 22 Linux. I had a couple problems getting the card working. After plugging in the card and connecting four (blank) drives and powering up the machine, I could see the new adapter going through it's (long) initialization sequence on the console then the screen would go black and the BIOS would hang just before the point where it normally prints the ..
