Purchased this unit a month ago and out of curiosity I connected it through a power meter. The power consumption with no load and batteries at 100% charged is 1.25 Amps. With my IMac plugged in the consumption is at 2.4 Amps. I've owned several APC units before and the no-load current for the trickle charger was about 0.2 Amps. Answers from APC were responsive but unclear as to why this inefficient unit was designed to consume 130 watts with no usef..
I've just received this product, so this is a preliminary review. I purchased it because it generates a true sine wave output. My computer's power supply won't tolerate anything less. I've used probably 7 or 8 APC products over the years, and they've been very reliable. As the earlier reviewer said, this is a redesign of the SUA1000, and it's only been sold for the past few months. The only issue I have with the product so far is that the fan is constantly running ..
